The Stop TB Partnership-Kochon Prize supports the global fight against tuberculosis.

The Prize is awarded once a year to persons, institutions, or organizations that have made a highly significant contribution to combating tuberculosis.

The prize consists of a medal and US$ 65 000. The cost of awardees' participation in the Award Ceremony also is covered.

For remarkable achievements in the development and subsequent international expansion of community-based multidrug-resistant tuberculosis treatment in a resource-poor setting.


PROFESSOR EMERITUS DENIS MITCHISON

For groundbreaking research that led to the development of the current treatment for tuberculosis. For having remarkably contributed to improvements in the chemotherapy of M. tuberculosis.
