Election for ACSM at Country Level Core Group
The ACSM Working Group of the Stop TB Partnership is a grouping of organizations and individuals with ACSM expertise and interest in facilitating the development, implementation and evaluation of TB advocacy and communication interventions under the Global Plan to Stop TB 2006-2015. The Working Group has a Chair, who also leads the global advocacy for resource mobilization sub group/core group and a Vice Chair who leads the country-level ACSM sub group/core group.
The ACSM at Country Level Sub Group is currently running elections for its Core Group for a two-year term starting October 2008 and ending in October 2010. Currently, all members of the Country Level Core Group (except for patient representative Jacob Kayombo) have served two years+ as Core Group members.
In order to ensure that the County-Level Core Group represents a wide range of stakeholders involved in ACSM, the Secretariat has held discussions with the Chair and Vice Chair of the ACSM Working Group and propose the following format for the composition of the new County-Level Core Group:
The below Core Group members are to be selected by the respective Sub Group and/or Working Group (PPM, MDR, TB/HIV) and is intended to ensure crucial linkages between relevant Working Groups of the Stop TB Partnership. Please note that this proposal is dependent on the decision of each of the relevant Working/Sub Groups and discussions are currently ongoing but have not been finalized.
- ACSM representative from PPM DOTS Sub Group (of DOTS Expansion Working Group)
- ACSM representative from Drug Resistance Mobilization Subgroup (of MDR-TB Working Group)
- ACSM representative from TB/HIV Working Group
Three advisers will also be added to the Core Group:
- Community Involvement and Care expert
- National Partnerships Representative (selected by network of national Partnerships)
- Communications expert (selected by Media and Events Network)
Apart from the above members and the already occupied post for patient representative, open elections will be held for 4 remaining posts in the Core Group. Ideally, candidates should fit within one of these categories:
