The National Stop TB Partnership in India
Partnership for TB Care and Control (PTCC), India: The partnership has its roots in a Round 8 proposal for the Global Fund for Aids, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, which united 16 members of the India Coalition Against TB and 9 of the NGO TB Consortium under a common goal in March 2008. In August 2008, USAID supported a ‘jump-start’ for some of the project activities through a World Vision grant. The national partnership finally evolved in a meeting attended by 44 organizations in New Delhi in November 2008, and a working group was constituted in December 2008 to streamline its agenda. The main objectives of the Partnership include: to provide increased visibility and community ownership of the national TB program, to provide a platform for partners to work together and jointly apply for grants and to execute a joint strategic plan that involves civil society, and the private and public sectors.
