| Comments: | WHO/EMRO staff (Mr Khan) and consultant (Mr Haq) visited Nairobi, Kenya from 15 to 19 June 2009 to review and support ACSM component in the GF R7 grant (started from 1 Nov 2008). Mr Khan and Mr Haq could not visit inside Somalia because of the volatile security situation (phase IV), and visited Nairobi and met with national and international partners dealing with TB care including World Vision (PR) and WHO staff. R7 grant has five objectives (High quality DOTS, TB/HIV & MDR, HSS, PPM and ACSM), and with USD 8.7M for phase I. Mr Khan and Mr Haq, after meeting the partners, developed a draft 5-year ACSM strategic plan for TB care addressing key ACSM areas & activities. The plan is based on the recently developed ACSM strategy for TB care in Somalia: the strategy was formulated by an ACSM consultant (Mr Turk) recruited by PR (World Vision) of R7 grant. The Strategic Plan will be the basis of ACSM activities in the R7 grant and also other support for TB care in Somalia.
