Comments:WHO/EMRO sent a consultant (Dr Naji) to Djibouti from 6 to 13 June 2009 to assist ACSM component of the R6 grant (started from June 2007). In the three Objectives of R6 (DOTS, TB/HIV & MDR-TB), there are a number of ACSM related activities. To address such activities effectively, Dr Naji assisted the national TB programme and partners in developing the national ACSM guidelines (in French) by adopting the global ACMS guidelines (English). Dr Naji also advised the Ministry of Health in developing a wider partnership (like national partnership) to mobilize more support for R6 ACSM activities. At the same time, it was realized that the current ACSM workplan is not comprehensive or explicit, and there is a need to develop a good workplan for phase II which will start soon. WHO/EMRO will therefore provide additional TA on ACMS to Djibouti to develop a country specific strategic ACSM policy & workplan for phase II (new EMRO/ACSM OGAG TBTEAM support).
