| Comments: | WHO/EMRO sent a consultant (Dr Ismail) to Jordan from 23 to 29 May 2009 to review and suport laboratory component in the R5 grant (started from 1 Jul 2006, phase II from 1 August 2008). Dr Ismail visited the national TB reference laboratory which is located in the national TB programme building. Dr Ismail reviewed the NRL activities comprehensively not only smear examination and EQA, but also culture and drug susceptibility testing. She conducted a 3-day on site training for the staff of the NRL according to their needs. Dr Ismail provided comprehensive recommendations to scaling up NRL particularly in terms culture and drug susceptibility testing, which will be incorporated in the R6 grant support to Jordan.
