| Comments: | WHO/Iraq staff (Dr Huseynova) visited Iraq to assist nationals in improving quality of DOTS through GF ground 6 grant (start from 1 January 2008). In her visit to Baghdad (17-31 July 08), Dr Huseynova met, at the Rashid hotel in the Green Zone, with the national TB programme manager and his staff, as well as partners involved in the GF-grant activities. Extensive discussions on ongoing activities supported by GF grant was done and technical advise was provided. Dr Huseynova also visited Irbil from 5 to 10 Oct 08 to meet with MOH officials on DOTS expansion and evaluation of GF grant implementation in the three northern governorates (Suleimanya, Dahuk & Erbil). Her visit significantly contributed to the improvement of the quality of DOTS and grant implementation as the grant performance was improved from C in Q1 08 to A in Q2 08 & also in Q3 08, and R6 grant is expected to move to phase 2 from Sept 2009.
