| Comments: | WHO/EMRO staff (Dr Seita) visited Juba from 12 to 18 January 2009 to review R 5 grant which is specifically for TB/HIV collaborative activities (started from 01 Oct 06). This visit also aimed at supporting R9 proposal development particularly on HSS component: and thus financed by Southern Sudan GF budget. There had been delays in R5 TB/HIV grant implementation and also serious problems in M/E. Dr Seita discussed the matter with national TB & HIV/AIDS programmes, CCM and other partners. The discussion was continued after the visit, and it was extensively discussed with GFATM & UNDP (PR) during the GFATM MENA meeting (Amman 21-24 April 2009). As the grant performance was quite poor and the grant was at the risk of termination, upon the request of GFATM & UNDP, Dr Seita (with his colleagues at WHO/EMRO) wrote a assessment paper on M/E component of the TB/HIV R5 grant in June 2009. The phase 1 of the R5 grant was then extended to September 2009 for further evaluation.
