| Comments: | WHO/EMRO sent a consultant (Dr Ba Sourang) to Djibouti from 4 to 21 Oct 08 to assist the implementation of the TB/HIV component in the GF R6 (started from 1 Jun 2007). Dr Ba Sourang visited all TB centers and relevant health facilities, and assessed TB/HIV activities. She gave comprehensive recommendations to scale up TB/HIV care in Djibouti where HIV sero-prevalence among TB patients are more than 20%. She particularly gave practical recommendations on the laboratory capacity in TB centers so as to ensure all TB patients who is HIV-positive can receive appropriate laboratory exams before starting Anti-retroviral treatment. Her visit contributed to the improvement of TB/HIV component in R6 grant, and its phase 2 is expected to start in July 2009 as planned.
