| Comments: | Course participants have received ongoing support and monitoring by the Philippine Nurses Association. Activities are reported back to ICN within one year of the course taking place. Nurses present at this training identified the following as challenges to effective delivery of TB prevention and control programs in their jurisdiction: Staff shortages, increased caseload, staffing with nurses who lack knowledge and experience in TB, lack of access or funding for training and education, inconsistent or non-adherence of staff to TB guidelines, lack of staff support and supervision, variable access to service and treatment including poor or inconsistent availability of DOTs, lack of management support, lack of political will, lack of TB specific cirricula in nursing schools, insufficient resources including laboratory supplies, lack of community support of TB programs, and physical or geographic barriers for people accessing service. The course evaluation was positive and each participant prepared a training plan to meet and address specific needs, barriers and epidemiological issues relevant to their practice and place of work.
