| Comments: | Course participants have received ongoing support and monitoring by the School of Nursing, Peking Union Medical College. Activities are reported back to ICN within one year of the course taking place. Nurses present at this training identified the following as challenges to effective delivery of TB prevention and control programs in their jurisdiction: Non-adherence to or inconsistent use of TB treatment guidelines, inconsistent access to service, poor infection control practices or policies, poor occupational health practices or policies, insufficient access to personal protective equipment, lack of integration of TB into HIV programs, contrasting opinion and treatment from traditional healers, concerns about quality of TB medications from private sector, issues with medication side effects, and financial barriers for patients in need of medication and nutrition. The course evaluation was very positive and each participant prepared a training plan to meet and address specific needs, barriers and epidemiological issues relevant to their practice and place of work.
