| Comments: | Course participants have received ongoing support and monitoring by the Ethiopian Nurses Association. Activities are reported back to ICN within one year of the course taking place. Nurses present at this training identified the following as challenges to effective delivery of TB prevention and control programs in their jurisdiction: Staff shortages, staffing with nurses who lack knowledge and experience in TB, challenges with team coordination, poor program follow up of non-adherent patients, poor infection control policies and practices, lack of financial support for nursing staff who become ill with TB, lack of integration of TB and HIV programs, under reporting of TB, drug shortages and stock outs, insufficient lab supplies, delays in obtaining lab results, and a need for additional support, education and counselling for patients, families and communities. The course evaluation was positive and each participant prepared a training plan to meet and address specific needs, barriers and epidemiological issues relevant to their practice and place of work.
