| Comments: | The nurses present reported providing training to fellow nurses, allied health staff, midwives, and community members. Some of the main challenges to providing effective trainings were; lack of employer support – training others was seen to be outside the job description, negative attitudes from some training recipients, lack of administrative support from the NNA, lack of funds to support trainings, lack of materials and resources, and the perception that TB/MDR TB was low priority. Despite these obstacles, the nurses articulated the following as indicators of success of the trainings provided; increased confidence of subject matter, development of more patient-centred approaches, improvement of access to treatment and a network of nurse trainers who share information, strengthening the TB program with improved follow up and treatment outcomes. |
