| Comments: | Since the training of trainers began in 2006, trainings have been provided by the initially trained nurses to 1,500 individuals including management staff, allied health workers, laboratory staff, pharmacy technicians, nurses and clinicians. The nurses reported that as a result, there has been improved care for TB patients, as well as improved case finding. It was noted that while the NTP has been active in developing TB management policies for quite some time, the TOT sessions which involved and empowered nurses helped to make valuable changes at the level of program delivery, which impacted patient outcomes. One presenter expressed particular pride in the success of integrating TB education into HIV services at various levels. Despite the success of the cascade of training initiatives thus far, it was noted that the main barriers to accessing training were financial constraints and lack of compensation for those attending the training.
