With the DFB planned objectives and planned activities in mind, we visit the country and TB program at different levels: from the national head of NTP, the provincial head and hospital, a couple of districts with the health centre, lab, drug stock, a peripheral health structure (health post, village doctor, health promoter, volunteer… depends on the country), and up to the house of a few patients. This together with someone from our local team and whenever possible someone in charge of NTP (national or provincial). During the visit we look into all elements of TB control (as if doing a supervision visit) and formulate recommendations, both to the local counterpart, and to our own team. With our own team we specifically work on next year’s plan, taking recommendations into account. If possible, we will discuss shifting within the existing budget and plan to accommodate any urgent purchase or activity.
Occasionally, we will profit from the occasion to co-facilitate a training course.
Visits end with a debriefing of local counterpart, e.g. provincial or national health director or NTP director.
