| Comments: | 2. Mission to El Salvador: From 24 to 28 September 2012, AMRO/PAHO conducted a mission to Guatemala with the following objectives:
• Provide technical assistance in implementing the Xpert MTB-Rif at subnational levels. • Follow the recommendations of the monitoring mission of the NTP 2011. • Monitor activities funded by the Global Fund. • Pilot project for validation of new TB case definitions and treatment outcomes.
The main findings were as follows: • The progress of the NTP and the team's commitment to continue working was verified. • The country has decided to implement a new technology for the rapid diagnosis of TB, and is doing so through an orderly process and judicious validation which includes defining algorithms for rational use. Screened specific populations include those deprived of liberty (prisoners). • The commitments and the recommendations given in the last evaluation have been implemented. • Performance indicators of the Global Fund project proposals show that the goals have been achieved. • The country has decided to conduct a pilot beyond simply implementing new definition formats to assess the impact that this would bring to the program.
