| Terms of Reference: | Nine countries in the African Region are applying to the Global Fund transitional funding mechanism for TB funds and are being supported by TBTEAM AFRO/HQ and partners. TBTEAM held initial online sessions to review the application process together with the Global Fund proposal team. In-country support was then provided to all countries with technical experts spending 2 to 4 weeks as required in country with the country proposal writing teams. TBTEAM technical backing was funded using DFiD and CIDA grants. A three day mock Technical review panel (TRP) workshop was held in Nairobi, Kenya mid-march in order to review, critique and rewrite the draft proposals. This workshop was attended by 35 people, including 5 TBTEAM facilitators (3 AFRO/ 2 HQ), 9 country teams consisting of National Tuberculosis Programme (NTP) managers, Global Fund focal points and WHO support staff, joined by 5 consultants (one by telephone link-up).See Annex 1 for the participants list
Applicant countries attending the workshop included- Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Botswana , Sierra Leone, Togo, Burundi, Benin, and Tanzania. The UNION provided consultant support to Togo and Benin, PATH to Tanzania, KNCV to Mozambique (with TBTEAM funding) and TBTEAM/WHO supported the other 5 countries with directly recruited consultants. The GIZ BACKUP initiative also supported the Sierra Leone consultancy. |
