| Title: | TA on on the conduct of (operational) research on tuberculosis in cooperation with NTP |

| Terms of Reference: | 1. To assist in the validation, monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of the GeneXpert, specifically
a. to adjust the GeneXpert data extraction forms needed to collect the necessary data in provincial general hospitals that offer HIV and TB diagnosis and treatment services;
b. To discuss the study design and procedures with data collection assistant(s);
c. To pre-test all questionnaires and pilot the field work of the study;
d. To discuss the planning and roll-out of the study in 17 sites.
2. To assist in monitoring the impact of tuberculosis infection control (TB-IC) measures by MDR-TB treatment centers, DTUs and HIV facilities:
a. With the NTP focal person for infection control, perform data checks and analysis of the first data routinely collected of 45 provincial TB hospitals, and prepare a draft report;
b. With NTP, discuss the plan to expand the collection of indicator data to all provinces and all districts.
3. To assist PHR with finalization of data collection tools and preparation of the field work for their study in 3 provinces.
4. To assist NTP with further developing the protocols for its studies on:
a. Feasibility and acceptability of provision of isoniazid preventive therapy (IPT) to children at the communal level;
b. Yield and accuracy of the new TB screening algorithm for children.
5. To conduct a review assessing the quality of the last (fourth) drug resistance survey conducted by NTP, on the request of WHO Vietnam.
