WHO is providing Technical assistance on updating of the National MDR/X-TB plan as part of support to National Tuberculosis Control Program. National MDR/X-TB plan supposed to be update and aligned with the regional “Consolidated Action Plan to Prevent and Combat M/XDR – TB in WHO European region” by the team of the national and international experts under coordination of WHO/EURO.
Dr Kai Blondal is selected for the consultancy to provide her technical expertise for the objectives and goals as stated below.
Objective and tasks
• To provide technical assistance to national experts in the updating exist National MDR/X-TB plan in accordance with Regional plan as a part of the detailed TB National plan for practical use by all members of the National Programme of TB control in the Azerbaijan, based on WHO recommendations in cooperation with WHO/EURO and WHO consultant Dr Kai Blondal .
• To coordinate National MDR/X-TB plan discussion and updating it during national workshop.
• To prepare draft editing into the 2009-2013 plan based on the list of updates, changes, concerned all to go over in the 2009-2013 plan, prior to the workshop
• To guide updateing of the budget (finalization through the e-mails during 2 weeks after the workshop)
• Two days workshop discussion of proposed recommendations and final editing the current 2009-2013 plan accordingly

• To consolidate the input provided by all key stakeholders like NTP, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Health, partners (Abt Associates) and donors (Global Fund, USAID etc)
Expected outcome:
• By the end of technical assistance provision Azerbaijan will have Updated National MDR/X-TB Plan
Estimated timeline
• By the end of September 2012 team of national and international experts updated the existing National MDR/X-TB plan.
• The national workshop scheduled for 18 – 19 September 2012 for updating the draft National MDR/X-TB plan
• By the end October 2012 the budget is finalised
