| Terms of Reference: | Objectives/purpose of travel: Lao PDR: Lao PDR successfully carried out the 1st National TB Disease Prevalence Survey from August 2011 to December 2012. Experts of WHO Global Task Force on TB Impact Measurement reviewed the survey process and results in collaboration of technical partners, and certified that a quality survey was completed with international standard methods according to the WHO guiding documents. WHO Global Task Force will register the Lao survey as a part of surveys in Global Focus Countries to measure the Impact on TB epidemiology. However, as the survey showed much higher TB disease prevalence than the previous estimate, it is essential to get a consensus among the government officials and partners to understand the results, implications for the program and necessity of further work. Technical consultation workshop was held. Thailand: Thailand launched a National TB prevalence survey in March 2012 to assess the nationwide TB situation. 83 enumeration areas were selected as the survey clusters from 24 provinces in all 12 Operational Administrative Regions for Public Health and Disease Control except a capital city of Bangkok.At the beginning of July, a survey comes mid-way of the data collection. Countries in WHO SEARO that are planning to have a national survey were invited to observe the Thai survey operation. Bangladesh, DPRK and Indonesia and Nepal participated by country funding resources. WHO HQ and partners organized a review on Thai survey operation and a seminar for participants to fully utilize the opportunity.
