| Title: | To meet with Thailand stakeholders and conduct study sites visits to assess the logistics and feasibility of centralized diagnos |
| Type: | Mission |
| Terms of Reference: | Molecular diagnostic testing for Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) allow for more rapid time to detection of MTB and mutations conferring drug resistance compared to conventional mycobacterial culture and drug susceptibility tests (DST). In counties with good specimen transport systems, such as Thailand, centralized testing may be a good solution. Thailand Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) - U.S. CDC Collaboration proposed a study to evaluate the operational feasibility, impact on time to diagnosis and treatment, and cost of a centralized approach to molecular diagnostic method for tuberculosis using transport of clinical specimens in PrimeStore molecular transport media (MTM) and testing for detection of MTB and mutations conferring drug resistance with Anyplex™ Test and Anyplex™ Plus Test (Seegene Inc, Seoul, South Korea) performed on SeegeneTM platform compared to mid-level decentralized approach to diagnosis with normal transport of unprocessed specimens and testing on GeneXpert platform. |
