| Terms of Reference: | high TB burden, and particularly in the setting of high HIV prevalence. The KOPANYO study is a collaboration between the University of Pennsylvania and CDC/Botswana-USA Partnership (BOTUSA) that aims to better understand potential sites of TB transmission in Botswana using molecular epidemiologic techniques coupled to GPS positional data for possible sites of transmission (e.g., homes, healthcare facilities, sites of social gathering). This study is based in two separate regions of the country: Gaborone and Ghanzi. In this study, all persons diagnosed with tuberculosis in the study catchment areas are eligible to participate. The aim of this site visit by collaborators from CDC Division of TB Elimination, International Research and Programs Branch, was to assess the pilot phase of study implementation and provide recommendations for improvement.
In addition, during this TDY, a dissemination meeting was held with staff of the Botswana National TB Program to discuss results of an analysis of treatment outcome among persons enrolled in the fourth national drug resistance survey.
