Terms of Reference:Stakeholder meetings were held with CDC-Cambodia staff, WHO, FHI, and CENAT staff. Follow-up
working meetings were held with the CENAT TB/HIV lead, the MDR TB lead, and CENAT laboratory
staff. Feedback was given on the current draft Xpert algorithms and draft versions of proposed
registers were shared.
? Draft registers for PLHA who are TB suspects and people who are MDR TB suspects were reviewed
and field tested with supervisory and clinical staff at the provincial, operational district, and health
center levels.
? An updated lab register was reviewed and field tested with the laboratory staff at the provincial
referral laboratory.
? Networks and processes for specimen referral for Xpert testing and reporting of results were
developed and reviewed with clinical and laboratory staff.
? The data collection plan was finalized and a MS Access database was piloted using sample data
from existing registers. The system and mechanisms for protection of patient records and
confidentiality was also finalized.
? A preliminary schedule was developed for provincial trainings to accompany Xpert MTB/RIF rollout.
Training topics, audiences, and draft training materials were reviewed with senior CENAT
staff.
? The budget for the evaluation was revised to include updated estimates of the number of patients
and training participants.
Future Plans and Recommendations
CDC-Cambodia staff will continue to work with CENAT to implement updated clinical registers while also
engaging in the ongoing discussions about Xpert algorithms and programmatic guidelines around Xpert.
Baseline, pre-Xpert data collection will begin as soon as the clinical registers are implemented. I will return
to Cambodia in March 2012 to assist with TOT and training activities in anticipation of Xpert MTB/RIF rollout.
Data collection will continue for approximately one year after Xpert roll-out.
