Title:In collaboration with the National Department of Health (NDoH) TB Control and Management Cluster and the
Type:Mission
Terms of Reference:The objectives of the meeting were to:
1. Review current paediatric DR TB epidemiology, policy, program practice, and research in South Africa;
2. Discuss how best to apply research findings to program practice;
3. Highlight aspects of paediatric DR TB that require further research, identifying priorities and next steps in
research and program development;
4. Address the 2012/2013 childhood TB operational plan objectives from the National Strategic Plan;
5. Provide an update on diagnosis and clinical management of paediatric DR TB; and
6. Place paediatric TB into the larger context of the changing healthcare environment in South Africa.
During this trip/meeting we also disseminated preliminary epidemiology findings and recording/reporting
findings from our Epidemiology of Drug-Resistant TB among Children and Adolescents in South Africa project
