| Comments: | WHO/EMRO will send a consultant (Dr Ismail) to Djibouti from 18 to 25 July 2009 to assist TB-related laboratory activities supported by GF R 6 (started from 1 June 2007). Improvement of laboratory activities is critical for R6 grant because it has several laboratory related objectives and SDAs. Objective 1 (Improve the quality of and access to DOTS services... ) has SDAs relating to case detection based on smear examination, and more importantly, one SDA is on Supportive Environment - Laboratory with indicator (Number and proportion of CDTs performing EQC of microscopy according to international procedures). MDR-TB care is also an objective of the grant, and the laboratory is obviously very important. Dr Ismail is the head of the SNRL of Egypt, and is the best person to assess such activities. |
