Current projects with TB component:- Ongoing advocacy for good quality patient care for people affected by TB at international, regional and national levels
- Collaborating with National Nurses Associations (NNAs) to train nurses as trainers in countries with a high burden of TB and MDR-TB (see below)
- Monitoring and supporting these trainers through NNAs
- Strengthening collaboration between NNAs and National TB Control Programmes to support and strengthen the health system overall
- Develop training tools and materials for general use including an on-line learning course and improving access to information
- Improving health care worker safety and TB infection Control through Interprofessional workshops (two held in South Africa to date and one in Brazil)
- Development of skilled trainers with a variety of languages and experiences from countries with a high burden of TB and MDR-TB – so far two in Russia, two in South Africa, one in Philippines, one in Portugal, and one in Kenya.
- Definition of competencies in relation to the prevention care and management of TB and MDR-TB for generalist and specialist nurses.
