National Conference

Aims and Objectives: In response to the growing public health challenges posed by tuberculosis this conference aims to raise awareness of the wider social context of TB and practical implications for the development of programmes for effective transcultural care and prevention, by providing opportunities:

• To explore the wider social factors influencing the spread of tuberculosis.
• To explore the impact of the wider socio-economical issues and practical implications for the development of programmes for care and prevention, health promotion and awareness raising.
• To encourage community participation and partnerships in service planning, delivery and evaluation.
• To provide delegates with the opportunity to network with others interested and/or involved in tuberculosis care and prevention.
• To establish an agenda and action for change.

Intended Audience: this conference is particularly suitable for anyone with an interest in issues relating to tuberculosis and the development of programmes for effective care and disease prevention, such as those working in health and social care, community development, public health, commerce and industry, voluntary workers, individuals affected by TB and members of the public.

Programme: topics for discussion include – Challenges for London, Refugee Health, Lessons from International Crisis of Control, Prisons, Personal Perspectives, Children, Transcultural Care, Inner City Challenges, Legal Dimensions, etc.

Speakers: sessions will be presented both by individuals with personal experiences of TB treatment and experts in various fields.

Venue: Imperial College Conference Centre, Charing Cross Hospital, London W6

The above fee includes refreshments and lunch. On the day delegates will also receive a conference pack and a certificate of attendance.
