Web Alert - 23 January 2003

WORLD TB DAY 2003 "DOTS Cured me - It will cure you too!"

COUNTDOWN TO 24 MARCH 2003: 60 days to go....

World TB Day 2003 is only 60 days away!

In this World TB Day Alert, you will find a link to the new on-line Stop TB Image Library and information on how to use it. We are also continually looking for new images to add to the library, and we will tell you how you can add your images to the collection.

The Stop TB Image Library (http://www.worldlungfoundation.org/library.html) is a catalogue of images illustrating the human face of the international fight against TB. It was created by the Stop TB Partnership Secretariat and will be hosted and developed by the International Union Against TB and Lung Disease (IUATLD) under a co-funding agreement.

The Image Library is a valuable component in the development of advocacy material, as well as a dynamic educational tool. You can download these images to use in your educational and advocacy products. The images are organized by category as well as by region, country and year, so you can do specific searches to locate images that meet your needs. It is important to note, however, that because the Library is brand new, there is a shortage of images at this time. Our first priority during the next six months will be to rapidly expand the image base to make the Library as useful as possible.

As this year’s World TB Day theme People with TB and slogan DOTS cured me – it will cure you too! are designed to focus attention on former and current TB patients, you can use images of TB patients from the Stop TB Image Library to add emphasis to your education and advocacy materials, posters, websites, reports and other products. Images are available in low-resolution format for use in websites and Word documents and in high-resolution format for use in printed documents such as regional magazines, newsletters or posters.

Low-resolution images from the Stop TB Image Library are available to the general public for educational, non-commercial use. All images must be accompanied by the appropriate credit line, which is provided with each image.

High resolution images can only be downloaded by registered members of the Stop TB Partnership, who will be issued a username and password. Others may do so by making a special request to the library manager, who will provide the images on a discretionary basis.

Registered members of the Stop TB Partnership may download high resolution images of an image by entering the same username and password issued to them for the Partnership Directory at: our Partners' Directory.
