- "Pulmonary and HIV Disease Update" at Nova Southeastern University, March 21st
from 8 am-4 pm co-sponsored by ALA of South FL.
Miami-Dade
- "World TB Day Commemorative Event" (Approx 70 attended)
Program held at the Miami Hope Center (CHC). Providing the conference room
in conjunction with the Community Partnership for the Homeless and the SFLA who sponsored
the net working lunch.
Attendees: Infection control staff at various local hospitals,
Community Health Centers, Clinicians, Nurses, and other HCWs who address TB issues.
Topics covered: MDCHD,TB Program Components, MDC TBP Strategies, MDC TB data and trends CY
2002, New Treatment Guidelines for TB, What is TB Nurse Case Management, What is Contact
Investigations, How is DOT provided, examples of real situations
Palm Beach/AG Holley
- World TB Day/TB Case Conference co-sponsored by ALA of South FL, SE FL TB Coalition and
AG Holley. 10 am- 3 pm including lunch. Florida TB Statistical Overview and collaborative
case presentations from Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade.
- Health Fair at Haitian Center for Family Services-displays and screenings
Duval
- Display in clinic waiting area with brochures, posters, etc
- Staff wore Stop TB pins and TB Busters buttons
- Staff provided brunch for patients
Hillsborough
- Link on Hillsborough Intranet web site to World TB Day events
- Participated in University of South Florida "Jamaican Me Healthly" health fair
Pinellas
- Movie: Peoples Plague-TB in America (PBS documentary shown to CHD staff/local
providers) credits provided
Volusia
- Posters displayed
- Notepads, Pens and calendars given to local providers and hospitals
- Press release in local paper
Seminole County
- gave out phone cards to all clients coming to clinic or seen in the field-will continue
for the rest of the week
- sent e-mail messages to all SCHD staff throughout the day re: World TB day
(infomercials)
- displayed many World TB Day posters throughout the health dept
- created a slide presentation, set to music, shown on all television monitors in the
building
DeSoto County
- Two part Newspaper story featuring a former active TB patient who spent almost four
months in AGH. The story was printed the day before and on World TB Day.
- A local resident who spent almost four months in AGH was invited back to the hospital as
a guest speaker at the World TB Day Conference
Okaloosa County
- 2 exhibits in Ft Walton and Crestview clinics.
- WTD posters from CDC
- Informational materials on TB, TB skin tests and TB/HIV-English and Spanish
Hendry-Glades Counties
- WTD and other TB articles in monthly newsletter "Hendry-Glades Health Gazette"
to community health care providers
- Governors Proclamation
Brevard County
- Displayed World TB Day poster in clinic lobby/reception areas
- Delivered various TB brochures to a high risk treatment center for distribution &
teaching tool
- Developed a format for & awaiting the final finished product: laminated or framed
4X6 inch cards with a list of TB risk factors to be posted in each clinic & Triage
area of all three Brevard County Health Department locations as a reminder for clinic
nurses to complete the risk assessment according to guidelines.
Citrus County
- Bulletin Board display in main clinic area with brochures
Highlands County
