March 7,2003
First Philippines Tuberculosis Summit
Various government and private organizations will hold a TB Summit to ratify the Comprehensive Unified Policy (CUP) on TB. A year-long project of the department of health (DOH) in collaboration with the 52-member Phil. Coalition Against Tuberculosis (PhilCAT), 22 leaders of major government departments like the department of education, interior and local government ,labor, Phil. Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth), SSS, GSIS, employers, labor group heads, the Phil. Medical Association will affix their signatures to the historic document which will unify the TB policy in both public and private sector.

Silang, Cavite
All the local village leaders ,called barangay captains will attend a TB seminar with an end in view of committing the local political leaders at the grassroots to sign a letter of commitment to look after TB patients in their communities in partnership with local government, health authorities and CCAT.
March 21, 2003
Dasmarinas, Cavite
Spearheaded by the first PhilCAT local coalition, the Coalition of Concerned Cavitenos Against Tuberculosis (CCCAT), around 300 faith-based Christian church members who committed to support DOTS will participate in a candle-lighting ceremony at the center of the town hall.

Several thousand people including hundreds of cured TB patients and partners are expected
to attend a free concert of artists in Manilas Central Park at 4 PM.. Interspersed
with speeches from DOH, PHILCAT, WHO and national leaders, it will feature TB patient
testimonies, informative games and prizes to participants on DOTS. A taped message from
the Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is expected.

Nationwide commemorative events in various cities and provinces some spearheaded by local
DOH and PhilCAT affiliates, local PPM DOTS centers to be launched in Iloilo and other
sites.

Trece Martires Cavite
About 1200 people are expected to attend a World TB commemorative event, 350 cured with DOTS Tb patients as well as treatment partners, peoples organizations will converge at the provincial capital to commemorate the event.
