What New York City is doing for the World TB Day 2003

While the World TB Day is March 24, 2002, New York City (NYC) Department of Health’s TB Bureau (including its 4 field offices in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx/Staten Island) will be participating in various activities from March 22 to March 30 to raise people’s awareness about TB and what to do about it.

The target groups this year are immigrant populations in NYC that are at higher risk of having

or contracting TB (because they are from some countries or regions where TB is more prevalent than others) and some immune suppressed populations in NYC. They include Spanish-speaking immigrants from South and Central America, Asians from China and South Asia, speaking Chinese, Urdu, Hindi or Bengali and visitors to some clinics in NYC.

Following are some of the activities:

Also, a table will be set up inside the lobby of this U.S. government building with TB banners and educational materials for visitors.
