March 2008 Stop TB Ambassador Luis Figo, Portugal's 'golden boy' and Inter FC star, will take part in a penalty shoot-out with Members of Parliament of the UK and schoolchildren at the launch of the "I Am Stopping TB" campaign to raise attention on tuberculosis, a leading killer in the world today.
Joining Figo will be the former President of Portugal and UN Secretary-General Special Envoy to Stop TB, Dr Jorge Sampaio.
The launch is being held on the eve of the release of new report by the World Health Organization. The Global TB Control Report 2008 outlines the scale of TB, the latest number of TB deaths, and progress and challenges to controlling the disease in more than 200 countries.
