Stop TB Partnership

About the Task Force

As one of the outcomes of the Rio Stop TB Partners Forum in 2009, it was recommended that a TB and Human Rights Task Force be established under the Stop TB Partnership. The Stop TB Partnership Coordinating Board has approved the establishment of the Task Force with the aim to protect and promote human rights, in pursuit of universal access to TB prevention, diagnosis and treatment, in order to advance health, development and effective TB control through the implementation of rights-enhancing policies, strategies and interventions.

Task Force objectives:

  1. Develop a policy framework for a rights-based approach to TB prevention, care and control
  2. Develop and implement a strategic agenda to pursue a rights-based approach through a wide range of stakeholders
  3. Mainstream human rights approach in Stop TB Strategy, Global Plan and Stop TB efforts
  4. Advocate for adoption by other constituencies beyond TB
  5. Mobilize resources
  6. Monitor and evaluate first actions
