Stop TB Partnership

Eastern European Region

The total estimated cost of country activities in the Eastern European Region from 2006 to 2015 is US$9.1 billion. As multidrug-resistant TB is an issue in the region, the cost of DOTS-Plus implementation is much bigger in this region compared to the other regions.

The estimated total funding gap is US$4.2 billion - the second largest in the regions.

About 2.2 million people will be treated in DOTS programmes from 2006 to 2015, and more than 410 000 in DOTS-Plus programmes. In addition, about 31 000 TB patients will be enrolled on antiretroviral therapy.

The combined effect of all interventions will be to prevent about 218 000 deaths, in comparison with a situation in which no DOTS programmes are implemented.
