2009 Images to Stop Tuberculosis Award Winner - David Rochkind

On the occasion of World TB Day 2010, the Stop TB Partnership is pleased to announce the publication of the photo essay produced by Mr David Rochkind for his Images to Stop Tuberculosis Award. Mr Rochkind, winner of the 2009 award, travelled to India in February to produce this photo reportage, whose moving stories depict challenges and triumphs of TB care among the most disadvantaged people of Mumbai.

The award, which is supported by the Lilly MDR-TB Partnership, seeks to obtain outstanding photos depicting tuberculosis prevention and treatment and community activity to raise awareness about it.

Mr Rochkind, a native of the United States, has been based in Latin America for the past eight years and currently lives in Mexico City. His work, which also focuses on Africa and Central Asia, has appeared in numerous publications, including Time, Newsweek, The New York Times, Glamour and Stern.
