Young scientists invited to apply for 2013 Walter Guerrero Ciquero TB fellowship

14 February 2013 - Lausanne, Switzerland - The European Respiratory Society (ERS) is inviting applications for the 2013 Walther Guerrero Ciquero TB Fellowship. The fellowship provides an opportunity for a young scientist to learn research techniques not currently practiced in their home country.

The fellowship is named in memory of Dr. Walther Guerrero Ciquero who died 15 April 2010 while on duty in Djibouti for Médecins Sans Frontières.

Applicants are invited from potential fellows from low- or middle-income countries who intend to carry out a research training project on tuberculosis in a European country.

The deadlines for applications are 1 April and 1 October 2013. If a Walther Guerrero Ciquero Fellowship is awarded in the April application round, a second Walther Guerrero Ciquero Fellowship will not be awarded in the October round. However the ERS aims to fund all good applications and may award scientists who apply for the Walther Guerrero Ciquero Fellowship with another short-term fellowship.

Full details are available on the ERS website.
