Denis Broun appointed UNITAID Executive Director

12 September 2011 - Dr Denis Broun has been appointed Executive Director of UNITAID. Prior to joining UNITAID, Dr Broun was regional director of UNAIDS for Europe and Central Asia, after serving as director of partnerships for UNAIDS in Geneva and UNAIDS country coordinator in India. Previous posts include chief of health for UNICEF in New York and director of resource mobilization at the World Health Organization.

Dr Broun's main area of experience is in pharmaceutical policies and he has worked as a senior specialist on the pharmaceutical sector at the World Bank. Dr Broun holds a medical degree from Paris University and a specialization in tropical medicine and epidemiology. He also graduated from the Paris Institute of Political Sciences.
