KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation receives certificate of merit from Viet Nam
24 March 2012 - Hanoi - KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation has received a certificate of merit from the Ministry of Health of Vietnam as an acknowledgement of its contributions to the country’s fight against tuberculosis (TB) over the past 25 years.
KNCV has provided technical and financial assistance to Viet Nam’s National Tuberculosis Programme (NTP) for the implementation TB care since the 1980s.
Peter Gondrie, Executive Director of KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation said, "We feel honoured to be a member of the international support to the NTP of Viet Nam for so many years. We acknowledge the support of the Government of Viet Nam to this Programme and we join the international TB community in commending the NTP for its achievements. We are grateful for the support that we receive from our main donors and supporters of our activities in Vietnam: USAID, DGIS, Netherlands Embassy in Vietnam and Medical Committee Netherlands-Vietnam."
Vietnam is one of 22 countries with the highest burden of TB. 180,000 Vietnamese people become ill with TB each year.
