Target TB launches three-year strategic plan

12 September 2012 - Brighton, UK - Target TB has launched a new three-year strategy with ambitious plans to expand its work in Africa and Asia and raise the profile of TB as a global emergency.

The charity has also refreshed its mission, which is to ‘stop vulnerable people in Africa and Asia from dying of TB by improving their access to information, treatment, care & support’.

"Target TB remains driven by the injustice that millions of people continue to suffer and die from TB in an era when we have the diagnosis and treatment available to stop this," said Nikki Jeffery, Director of Target TB. "We want to make sure that no matter how poor a person is, they are able to access the information, health and support services they need to survive TB".

A new monitoring, evaluation and learning framework, aligned to the 2012-15 strategy, will help Target TB to evaluate its work and disseminate information to others in the sector so as to build best practice. The framework was developed with the support of a grant from Comic Relief.

Target TB is also celebrating the launch of its first film, Stop TB in my lifetime. Developed as part of the charity's 'Talking About TB 'initiative, the film's title was chosen to reflect the 2012 World TB Day theme. The three minute film captures some of the faces and places from Target TB's projects in Africa and Asia.

This film provides us with an exciting new way to get people in the UK talking about the TB epidemic and our life saving work around the world," said Lynn Stevens, Fundraising Manager. "No one should be dying of TB in 2012. Let's share the film and together we'll get everybody talking about TB!'
