Winners of Viet Nam's national painting and poster contests announced

20 December 2012 - Viet Nam's National Tuberculosis (TB) Programme, in collaboration with PATH, has announced the winners of the recent My dream about a TB-free Viet Nam national painting contest for children and the For a TB-Free Viet Nam national poster contest.

The contests were designed to help reduce stigma and discrimination and encourage the public to advocate for better TB prevention, treatment and care.

Vietnamese children, from all 63 provinces, submitted more than one million pieces of art to the national painting contest. The panel of judges awarded the Special Prize to Pham Thien An, a seven year old girl from Hai Duong province, for her painting Protect my school from TB. Thien An was joined by her mother, father and grandfather at the award ceremony.

The national poster contest received 296 posters from artists and art students around the country. First prize was awarded to Truong Quang Tung, a student at the Viet Nam University of Fine Arts. Tung's poster highlighted little-known facts about pulmonary TB in Viet Nam.

The paintings and posters from the two contests will be stored in an electronic database for future use in media campaigns by a wide range of partners in Viet Nam.

You can view the two winning posters on the Stop TB Partnership's flickr photostream.
