BEMFAM training programme boosts Brazil's fight against TB/HIV


21 December 2012 - Rio de Janerio - The Attention project of BEMFAM Family Welfare in Brazil has come to completion, having achieved the training of more than 1300 health professionals and 164 youth peers and having produced two educational books on tuberculosis (TB) and HIV

Aiming to reduce the number of people becoming ill and dying from TB and HIV, BEMFAM organized training activities for activists, community health workers and health professionals in nine Brazilian states (Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará, Maranhão, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte e Santa Catarina).

In addition BEMFAM produced Manual de Apoio a Educadores: Tuberculose, a manual for education and health professionals and Manual de Tuberculose: conhecer para combater, a guide for community health workers.

The Attention project was developed by BEMFAM in partnership with the Brazilian Ministry of Health in order to increase the impact of the National Tuberculosis Control Programme.
