BD's Gary Cohen to serve as chief executive for GBC Health and MDG Health Alliance

17 January 2013 - New York - Gary Cohen, Executive Vice President of Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD), a medical technology company, has been appointed as chief executive officer (CEO) of the MDG Health Alliance and acting CEO of GBC Health.

Cohen will devote up to half of his professional time to these two roles, while continuing with his responsibilities at BD.

GBC Health recently entered into a three-year collaboration with the MDG Health Alliance that aims to engage the private sector in accelerating progress towards the health-related Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

GBC Health has also announced that Ray Chambers has joined its Board of Directors as Co-Chair, alongside Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, CEO of Access Bank. Mr Chambers is a philanthropist and humanitarian and a longtime supporter of GBC Health. He is the Chairman of the MDG Health Alliance and serves as UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon's Special Envoy for Malaria and as a UN MDGs Advocate, where he has responsibility for the health sector.
