Participants at the event

Project Axshya has been successful in establishing TB forums across 14 districts of Tamil Nadu to address ground-level issues of TB patients. It includes people from different sections of the society who play an active role in fighting TB at their districts / taluks. These forums focus on patient care and also provide financial support to such patients. One of their key functions is to educate people about TB.

Tucked away, in a remote corner of Dindugal district, Papampatti is just like any other village of Tamil Nadu. This village has a population of over 5000 people. With many TB cases in the village, the TB forum called ‘Life TB Forum’ decided to step in and bring awareness about the disease to its people without any financial support from Project Axshya.

The 15 - member TB forum sought help from a nearby college and carried out an intense awareness drive in the village. The village head, who is also a part of the forum, actively participated in the campaign. He has been made a DOT provider for three patients. Very soon, his office will function as a DOT centre.
