The Global Fund Advocates Network Launches its Speakers Bureau

24th September 2015 - The Global Fund Advocated Network (GFAN) has recruited a group of eight impressive speakers from around the world who have been affected by HIV, TB and/or malaria and can speak on a variety of issues related to these epidemics. They are available now for Global Fund resource mobilization advocacy.

The GFAN Speakers Bureau is a register of advocates who are committed to sharing stories and messages to help fund the Global Fund, to create policy changes for positive enabling environments and to increase domestic investments in health. Previous replenishment campaigning by GFAN has shown that the most impactful spokespeople for the Global Fund are those who have seen the impact of the Global Fund in their lives. Each of the speakers has accessed Global Fund-supported programs and are active advocates in their own communities for prevention, treatment and/or care for one or more of the three diseases.

Four of the speakers have been directly impacted by TB, including Clara, who has a message for TB patients, "TB is treatable and curable, and even when you are on anti-retroviral therapy you can still take your TB drugs, which are available to more people now thanks to help from the Global Fund".

Can one of the GFAN speakers attend my event, speak to the media, etc...?

If you’re an organization working on HIV, TB and/or malaria advocacy, GFAN can work with you to see if your request is appropriate for the bureau and which of the speakers can participate. GFAN are also open to general requests from the media.

Contact Katy Kydd Wright or Amy Coulterman for inquiries.

On Monday September 28th from 1pm-1:30pmET, GFAN will take to Twitter at @GFAdvocates where Maurine and Linda will talk about how we can end the HIV, TB and malaria epidemics through strong financial commitments to the health SDGs and the Global Fund.
