Stop TB Partnership

Another step forward in awareness and eradication of TB in Karachi, Pakistan

24 September 2015 - Taj Clinics and Diagnostics and Tabeer (NGO), a partner of the Stop TB Partnership, held a free TB diagnosis and management camp at Rajput Colony, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi. The Rajput Colony is a slum dwelling with a high prevalence of tuberculosis due to poor hygiene and improper ventilation.

The TB diagnosis and management camp was set up at the Bright Way School and about 75 patients visited the camp and were screened for TB. The screening was based on: patient history, physical examination, complete blood count and pulse oximetry, sputum examination by Gene Xpert, chest X-ray and pulmonary function test. Two of the patients were diagnosed with TB and put on treatment with follow up at Taj Clinics and Diagnostics under the umbrella of Tabeer.

Taj Clinics & Diagnostic, with the support and collaboration of Tabeer, are planning to run additional campaigns for tuberculosis, hepatitis and other communicable diseases, as well as health awareness programs regarding primary healthcare at head office, schools & slum areas.

These campaigns will focus largely on children and will expand the awareness of medical campaigns in order to establish a TB free society in Pakistan.
