Organization Description:
1) We are a local NGO working with local government, national TB program, local and international academic and research institutes and civil society to implement epidemiology, biological, operational and action research to reduce the burden of TB, HIV and other diseases of poverty.
2) Our Foundtaion was initiated by a group of Thai and Japanese Ph.D. students who conducted their doctoral thesis on TB, HIV and TB/HIV in 1992. After the group completed their respective degrees, they realized the importance of continuing the research and gaining further knowledge for effective TB and HIV control and care. Therefore they registered a foundation called TB/HIV Research Foundation (THRF)
3) We are collaborating with the national and international researchers to implement TB genetic resaerch, research to improve diagnosis for TB infection and TB disease. We are implementing action research by involving women organizations and vulnerable populations to improve TB care and prevention. We are planing to implement research to reduce the risk of TB such as diabetes, smoking, alcohol consumption.

Please tell us how your organization is contributing to your country's national TB control plan:
Our organization have developed several evidence-based TB educational materials (booklets and DVD) with participation and contribution from the ex-patients, voluneteers and health staff. Our materials aims to reduce stigma and enhance threatment adherence, as well as buidling awareness for the society to contribute to TB care. The national TB program and the National Health Insurance Office re-produced and distributed our materials throughout the country. We also collaborate with national TB and AIDS program to implement an operational research on IPT for PLHIV
