Organization Description:
The association Icons of Europe uses GREAT CULTURE as a platform for dialogue and inspiration related to contemporary societal issues (e.g. the identity of Europe; the re-emergence of TB as a global threat).

Icons of Europe wrote and published in 2003 "Chopin and The Swedish Nightingale" with a TB message signed by the Director-General of WHO. Chopin died of tuberculosis. This biography is now for sale at Amazon.co.uk. Its income will continue to be used for TB advocacy purposes and for special causes (e.g. miners in Southern Africa).

Promoting World TB Day 2005, Icons Europe co-produced pro bono and sponsored the musical drama "Chopin and The Nightingale" and a Chopin / Bellini / Jenny Lind concert in Toronto at the Royal Museum of Ontario. Participants included the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto Public Health, Stop TB Canada, the British High Commission, the Embassy of Poland in Ottawa, and the Fryderyk Chopin Institute in Warsaw.

On the occasion of World TB Day 2008, "Chopin and The Nightingale" was performed at the Marcella Sembrich Opera Museum, Lake George, New York on 25 and 27 July 2008 for the benefit of the Icons of Europe TB Fund.

Icons of Europe accepts donations in support of its World TB Day initiatives.
