| Organization Description: |
Pakistan Anti TB Association is a community based non governmental organization working for the eradication and rehabilitation of TB patients since 1956. It recognized the need for improved services for people affected by Tuberculosis. At a time when TB services was non-existent in Pakistan, PATA stated its function as a technical service providing agency focusing on Treatment of TB patient. It faced the common perception that TB had no cure once contracted and the patients were stigmatized in the society. PATA has grown from a small local organization working in a specific area of Pakistan, to its status as a national organization with branches in almost all districts and Tehsils of Pakistan with nearly 1000 health care provider staff and 10 thousands volunteers. VISION Make Pakistan a nation free from TB and other contagious diseases with particular significance to Lung and Chest Diseases. MISSION PATA aims to set up an enabling background for people of Pakistan to admittance to treatment of Tuberculosis through community contribution, support with policy maker, sensitizing media, promoting accountability service providers and establishing it as a right to life after getting TB. Why we are interested in Tuberculosis: through TB accounting for 25% of all preventable death worldwide and being the single greatest infectious killer, an issue cannot be ignored. At a time when successful cure and services are available, it is not acceptable for so many of world’s population to die of TB. In Pakistan alone, 500,000 people are infected each year, and 90,000 expire from TB equaling one death from TB in every ten minute. Planning to do for TB Control Motivation and supervision of Tuberculosis control campaign in Pakistan. Ensure National and International teamwork in suitable projects and programs. Put together human resources development, through training in the field of Tuberculosis and other programs. Motivation of public education and campaign for control of Tuberculosis
