Organization Description:
Provincal TB Control Program(PTP)has been initiated since 2001 for the control of TB in the most thickly populated Province of Pakistan(90 M in 36 districts). It gets its policy directions from tthe National TB control Program.It is based in the Director General Health Office under direct Supervision of the Director General Health who is inturn supervised by the Secretary, Department of Health Punjab.
PTP is a Government Organization and is committed to implent Stop TB strategy in the province. It has an incidence of 231/100000 All Type and 97/100000 NSS Pos cases.CDR All Type in 2011 79% and CDR NSS Pos 715for 2011 SCR 92% TSR 92 % DR 4%
A strategic 5 yr plan has been prepared for the Province. Annual, Quarterlyb and monthly planning is conducted regularly.

56% of the pakistans population is residing in the Province of Punjab, Therefore Punjab bears 56% of the case load. The TB control activities are spread in all 36 districts throughoutb the Province.

Contribution

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below:

TB Care Delivery:
ACSM activities are being implemented in the 36 districts of the Punjab through Global Fund and Provincial budgets and through the Reach Project for the 32 prisons of the Province. The activities include Journalists training, Community coalations, community gatherings, IPC trainings and Quality Assurrance workshop

Drug-Resistant TB:
A Drug resistance TB Program has been launched in the Province through GF Round 6 and 9. In the first phase 5 Hospitals are providing treatment and 2 Labs have been upgraded to BSL level 2 and 1 to BSL level 3. 326 Patients have been provided treatment along with social support todate.

TB-HIV:
Five sentinal sites have been established with infra structure for detecting TB in HIV pts and HIV in TB patients. Treatment is immediatly provided by the 2 Programs. Regular Meetings are conducted by the Program to review the Quarterly data and resolve issues for smooth functioning.

Laboratory Strengthening:
A network of 530 periphral,36 Intermediate and 2 Reference Labs have been established in the Public sector in the Province. With the initiative of PPM in Pakistan and in the province Private sector Labs have also been included in this network. HR is trained and data varified in quarterly surviellance meetings. Regular EQA activity is conducted and the Labs are monitored by the Technical and manegerial experts from National and International Level.

Research:
Operational Research is conducted through the research cell of the Program, presented in the IUATLD and published in the journals.
