Organization Description:
Heineken has production facilities in several developing countries. For reasons of health and safety on the workfloor it is important to be able to rapidly detect the cases of infectious tuberculosis, and to assure that an efficient treatment is provided, leading to a therapeutic success. It is not enough to treat the workers, we should give necessary attention i.e.
detection and treatment to the household members.
Additionally HIV treatment is part of our health care programme for workers and dependents, and the success of this programme can be jeopardised if the frequent co-infection with TB is not detected and treatead, for the infectious cases but also for smear-negative and extrapulmonary cases.
Tuberculosis is a problem that can be contained, and in the longer term solved.
Heineken does not have TB workplace programs, but does have workpalce health care programs, and TB treatment and prevention is part of those wherever needed.
